معرفی
Emre Alpman is a Professor at the Department of Thermodynamics and Heat in the Faculty of Engineering at Marmara University. He has been a faculty member since 2006, advancing from Assistant to Full Professor in 2020. His work focuses on computational fluid dynamics (CFD), aerothermal optimization, wind energy systems, and fluid mechanics.
Education:
- B.Sc. (First Rank) in Aeronautical Engineering from Middle East Technical University (1999)
- M.Sc. in Aeronautical Engineering from Middle East Technical University (2001)
- Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Pennsylvania State University (2006)
Research interests encompass mechanical engineering with a focus on thermodynamics and energy systems, fluid dynamics, and advanced CFD techniques. He specializes in optimizing turbine blade designs, wind energy technologies (including vertical/horizontal axis turbines and hybrid systems), and aeroacoustic simulations. His studies also address cavitation effects, exergy analysis, and numerical methods like genetic algorithms and machine learning.
His articles reflect trends in renewable energy solutions, CFD-driven optimization (using OpenFOAM® and Lattice Boltzmann methods), and interdisciplinary applications of fluid mechanics in aerospace, biomedical, and environmental engineering. The most recent publications explore film cooling hole optimization, UAV-based atmospheric sampling, and exergy-efficient refrigeration systems.
Alpman has advised 10 theses and contributed to 12 open-access projects. His research has been supported by institutional grants and collaborations.
