Dr. Emmanuel Siaw is a Lecturer in International Relations at Swansea University’s School of Social Sciences. He holds a PhD from Royal Holloway, University of London, and an MPhil from the University of Ghana. Previously, he taught at the University of Ghana, Royal Holloway, and Study Group UK, and worked with civil society organizations like CDD-Ghana and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in Ghana.
His research focuses on African agency in international relations, examining how ideologies, soft power, and cultural expressions shape African states’ diplomatic relations and foreign policies. He also explores domestic-political influences on foreign policy. Current research includes an interdisciplinary study on music’s role in African politics.
Teaching includes undergraduate and postgraduate modules on international relations theory, politics beyond the West, and Africa’s global engagement. He supervises postgraduate research and has designed courses like 'Africa in International Relations' and 'Approaches to International Relations.'
