Emmanuel Katsanis

Emmanuel Katsanis is a Professor at the University of Arizona, with appointments in Pediatrics, Medicine, Immunobiology, and Pathology. He serves as Director of the Hematopoietic Cellular Therapy and Transplant Program and Division Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. His research spans 30+ years in tumor immunology, transplant immunology, and immunomodulation, with a focus on graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), graft-versus-leukemia (GvL) effects, and myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs).

His work includes clinical trials on haploidentical bone marrow transplantation and preclinical studies on post-transplant immunomodulation using bendamustine. Recent publications highlight β-adrenergic receptor signaling in immune cell mobilization and therapeutic strategies to balance GvHD and GvL effects.

Emmanuel is affiliated with the University of Arizona Cancer Center, Steele Children’s Research Center, and Bio5 Institute. His laboratory investigates host cell modulation pre-transplant and its impact on immune reconstitution.
