Emmanuel Clacens

Emmanuel Clacens is a Professor of Musical Training at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels since January 1994 and has been the organist of the Great Organ of Saint Aubain Cathedral in Namur since May 2002. He is affiliated with HarMA HUB and the HarMa+ Faculty, contributing to projects like Erasmus HarMa+.
His education includes a degree in Organ and Music Pedagogy from the Institut Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie in Namur, where he earned first prizes in Music Theory, Harmony, Organ, Counterpoint, and Music History. He later obtained higher diplomas in organ and music theory from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, along with a first prize in orchestral conducting under Robert Janssens. He furthered his studies in Germany under Carlo Hommel.
His research interests span Classical and Contemporary Music Theater, Early Music, Jazz Education, Rhythms/Rhythmics pedagogy, and Organ Performance. As a soloist, he has performed internationally in Germany, France, Spain, Canada, and South Africa.
Clacens’ work blends academic instruction with artistic practice, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches through programs like HarMA initiatives. His teaching focuses on integrating theoretical and practical music education.
