Emma Waite

Emma Waite is a Research Fellow at the University of the West of England affiliated with the Centre for Appearance Research and the VTCT Foundation Programme of Research, which develops psychosocial support for individuals with visible differences. She also has experience in the charity sector working with adults with learning disabilities and complex mental health, as well as delivering NHS behavior change interventions for smoking during pregnancy.

• Education: BSc in Health Psychology, currently completing a Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology at UWE.

Research Expertise: Focuses on visible difference, health psychology, gender and sexuality, with a specific emphasis on the lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ young people with visible differences. Her work bridges clinical practice and social science.
