Dr. Emma Morton is a Senior Lecturer (Teaching and Research) at Monash University's School of Psychological Sciences. Her research focuses on optimizing quality of life for individuals with mood disorders, particularly bipolar spectrum disorders. She holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Swinburne University of Technology and completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of British Columbia, supported by the Institute of Mental Health Marshall and Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships.
Her three main research streams include measuring patient-valued outcomes, developing psychological interventions, and improving access to mental health tools. She co-developed the PolarUs app, a self-management tool for bipolar disorder. Dr. Morton advocates for participatory research with individuals living with mood disorders and leads initiatives like the #TalkBD webinar series. She co-directs CREST.BD, a collaborative network advancing bipolar disorder research and community engagement.
Key awards include the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship and multiple Best Poster Awards. Her work is funded by grants from Health Research BC and The Canadian Institutes of Health Research. She actively disseminates findings through media contributions and peer-reviewed publications, focusing on topics like psychedelic therapies and digital health innovations.
