Emma Eliasson is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Karolinska Institutet's Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics, affiliated with the Suicide and Mental Health Lab under Vladimir Carli and Gergö Hadlaczky. She leads research projects like EXPERIENCE (VR in mental health) and POTION (chemosignals in social anxiety treatment). Her work focuses on suicide prevention, psychiatric disorders, and innovative therapeutic interventions.
Education: PhD in Clinical Psychology (University of Edinburgh, 2022), MSc Cross-Cultural Psychology (Brunel University London, 2013), MA Psychology & Sociology (University of Aberdeen, 2012).
Research interests include virtual reality applications in mental health diagnostics, olfactory-based therapies for anxiety disorders, and neurobiological mechanisms in schizophrenia. Recent projects explore VR tools for depression evaluation and synthetic body odor integration into mindfulness treatments.
Key contributions include a 2024 grant from Forte (3.7M SEK) for suicide prevention innovation and collaborative work on digital interventions' meta-analyses. She has published widely in journals like JMIR Formative Research, Journal of Affective Disorders, and Schizophrenia Bulletin.
