Emma Allen-Vercoe is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in Human Gut Microbiome Function and Host Professor at the University of Guelph's Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, College of Biological Science. Her research focuses on the human gut microbiota's role in health and disease, particularly in colorectal cancer, diabetes, and inflammatory bowel diseases. She co-founded NuBiyota, a company developing microbial ecosystem therapeutics. Key innovations include the Robogut bioreactor system for studying gut microbiota dynamics. She has advised numerous graduate students and holds grants from agencies like CIHR, NIH, and NSERC. Her work spans human and honey bee microbiome research, emphasizing translational applications.
