Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emine Şap serves as faculty member at Bingöl University's Vocational School of Technical Sciences in the Department of Electronics and Automation. She holds a Doctorate in Mechanical Metallurgy from Fırat University and has progressed through academic ranks from Assistant Professor (2018-2023) to her current position as Associate Professor (2023-present). In addition to her academic role, she serves as Department Head of Electronics and Automation since 2013 and previously led the Mechatronics Program (2012-2013).
Her research spans materials science and sustainable manufacturing with particular expertise in:
- Copper-based composite materials produced via powder metallurgy
- Wear behavior and mechanical properties of advanced composites
- Eco-friendly machining processes and lubrication techniques
- AI applications in manufacturing optimization
- Surface engineering and coating technologies
Analysis of her 15 most recent publications (2016-2025) reveals a strategic research evolution from initial biodiesel applications toward specialized materials engineering, with increasing focus on sustainable manufacturing practices and artificial intelligence integration since 2020. Her work demonstrates strong international collaboration patterns with researchers across multiple continents.
Prof. Şap actively contributes to academic service as reviewer for prominent journals including Materials (MDPI), Lubricants (MDPI), and Sustainability (MDPI). She currently leads the BÜBAP-funded research project on AI-driven sustainable machining of Inconel 800 superalloy.
Her teaching portfolio includes core engineering courses such as Materials Technology, Machine Elements, and Mechanical System Design, maintaining substantial instructional responsibilities alongside research and administrative duties. She has supervised graduate research including the 2023 thesis on PEEK gear coatings.
