Emily Vogler

Emily Vogler is an Associate Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), holding a BA from the University of New Mexico Albuquerque and an MLA from the University of Pennsylvania.

Her research investigates social-ecological systems surrounding water infrastructure, sense of place, and climate uncertainty through site-scale environmental interventions. Current projects analyze New Mexico irrigation ditches, aging New England dam infrastructure, and Narragansett Bay coastal adaptation strategies, emphasizing public engagement in design processes and interdisciplinary collaboration between designers, artists, and scientists to address cultural and ecological challenges.

Professional experience includes serving as Landscape Architecture Department Head at RISD (2017-2019) and prior work as a senior project manager at Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates.
