Emily Tuttle is an Adjunct Professor of Fine Arts at Winthrop University, specializing in medieval art history with a focus on domestic material culture. She holds a PhD Candidate status from Florida State University, alongside an MA in Art History from FSU, an MSc in Medieval Art from the University of Edinburgh, and a BA in Art History from Winthrop University. Her research examines social class distinctions in medieval Yorkshire through notary records, artifacts, and visual representations of domestic spaces.

Her research interests center on material culture’s role in revealing social dynamics, particularly how medieval households reflected class through collecting, display, and inheritance practices. Tuttle has taught at multiple institutions, including Limestone University (adjunct 2015–2021), Florida State University, and Winthrop University. Since 2021, she serves as a full-time Instructor of Art History and Gallery Director at Winthrop.
She has led study abroad programs and taught courses ranging from introductory art appreciation to specialized medieval art history. Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to art history, blending archaeology, documentary analysis, and object studies.
