Emily Sobeck

Dr. Emily Sobeck is an Associate Professor of Special Education at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Her research focuses on paraeducator training, behavior management strategies, and inclusive education practices. She earned her PhD in Special Education from the University of Pittsburgh, where her dissertation won the 2016 Outstanding Dissertation Award from TED/CEC.

Her work addresses challenges in preparing educators to manage classroom behavior, utilize paraeducators effectively, and supervise pre-service teachers. She teaches courses on assessment, classroom organization, and behavior management, and co-chairs the Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC) at Franciscan University.

Recent publications explore paraeducator training barriers, video modeling interventions for autism, and diversity in research. She has received a $75,000 grant to develop online behavior management modules for Ohio educators.
