Emily Prior

Emily Prior is Adjunct Professor in Psychology at Woodbury University, with additional adjunct positions across Southern California institutions. As co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Positive Sexuality and Executive Director of the Center for Positive Sexuality, her work advances sex-positive frameworks in academia and clinical practice.

Research explores marginalized sexualities through qualitative and mixed-methods approaches. Key publications examine BDSM practices, polyamory, and vampire subcultures, advocating for destigmatization in social work and mental health services. Her scholarship develops practical frameworks for ethical negotiation in alternative sexual practices.

Teaching integrates perspectives from psychology, sociology, and anthropology to examine sexuality's intersection with identity formation, social norms, and policy development.
