Dr. Emily Petherick is a Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology & Biostatistics at Loughborough University's School of Sport, Exercise and Health. She holds a PhD from the University of York, supported by an NIHR fellowship, and has held prior roles as a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Leeds and Senior Epidemiologist at the Bradford Institute of Health Research, both focused on the Born in Bradford cohort study. Her research spans epidemiology, biostatistics, and public health, with a focus on maternal and child health, obesity, and ethnic health disparities.
Education: PhD in Health Sciences (University of York), MSc Public Health (University of Melbourne), BAppSci (Physical Education) (Victoria University).
Research interests include childhood obesity determinants, gestational diabetes management outcomes, early-life health trajectories, and the epidemiology of chronic respiratory conditions. She leads analyses on ethnic disparities in adiposity, antibiotic exposure impacts, and the application of machine learning in health prediction. Her work often utilizes large-scale cohort data, particularly the Born in Bradford study.
