Emily Martinez-Vogt

Emily Martinez-Vogt is an Assistant Professor and Department Head of College of Business Graduate Programs at the Nathan M. Bisk College of Business, Florida Institute of Technology. Her research focuses on transition experiences of marginalized groups in higher education, particularly Latina students navigating community college systems. She employs qualitative methods and frameworks such as Interculturalism, funds of knowledge, and Chicana Feminist Epistemology to study barriers like racism, structural inequities, and violence impacting educational trajectories. Key projects include a mixed-methods study with the University of Rochester and Ibero-American Action League, analyzing dropout trends and community support systems for Latinx students. She also investigates transitions of employees and administrators of color in predominantly white institutions, aiming to improve retention strategies.
