Emily Gorman

Emily Gorman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland. She serves as the Assistant Medical Director of the Mercy Medical Center Emergency Department and the EMS Medical Director at the same institution. Her clinical and research work spans Emergency Medicine, Clinical Informatics, and Obstetric Emergencies.

Dr. Gorman's research and clinical focus includes Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Clinical Informatics, and Obstetric Emergencies. She is actively involved in medical education, leading Introduction to Clinical Medicine courses, ECG workshops, and procedure labs for medical students, while also supervising physician assistants and Mercy Interns.

Her recent publications highlight expertise in diagnostic imaging (ultrasound vs CT for nephrolithiasis), point-of-care ultrasound education, and case-based approaches to pediatric emergencies. These works span subfields such as Emergency Radiology, Medical Decision-Making, and Interprofessional Training.

Dr. Gorman holds dual administrative roles: Assistant Medical Director and EMS Medical Director at Mercy Medical Center. She has contributed to ED throughput committees and pioneered educational programs like cadaver procedure labs and POCUS skill training for novice healthcare students.
