Emily Cramer

Dr. Emily Cramer is an Associate Professor at Marquette University's Diederich College of Communication. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, an M.A. from DePaul University, and a B.A. from Marquette University. Her research focuses on digital media, strategic health communication, maternal health disparities, and community engagement. She has led projects funded by grants such as the NIH's $264,034 initiative addressing health disparities in hypertensive disorders among Black women. Dr. Cramer teaches courses including Communication Research and Health Communication Campaigns. Her work emphasizes community-based participatory research to improve health outcomes through communication strategies.

Recent publications explore topics like social media engagement in clinical trials, preeclampsia communication needs, and digital media methodologies. She has conducted studies on disenfranchised grief in families affected by substance use disorders and the role of Instagram in patient narratives.
