Emilio Ros-Fábregas is a Permanent Researcher in Musicology at the Institució Milà i Fontanals (CSIC), Barcelona since 2009. He holds a Ph.D. from The City University of New York (CUNY, 1992) and has taught at institutions including Boston University (1993-1998), Universidad de Granada (1998-2007), and Universitat de Girona (2007-2009). His research focuses on Spanish music historiography, transnational musical exchanges, traditional music cataloging, and Renaissance music sources.

Research Interests: Ros-Fábregas studies the historical context of Spanish musical manuscripts, particularly the 16th-century Crown of Aragon polyphony (e.g., Barcelona's M.454 manuscript). He leads the Fons de Música Tradicional project digitizing 20,000+ traditional melodies. His work also examines music patronage and performance practices in early modern Europe, collaborating on international projects like RILM Abstracts and French opera publications.
Awards: Recipient of prestigious awards including the Barry S. Brook Dissertation Award (1992) and recognition from the BBVA Foundation (2001 Cambridge Fellowship) and University of Chicago (2011-12 Catalan Studies Chair).
Grants & Collaborations: Leads Spain's R+D project on Spanish polyphony catalogs (HAR 2012-33604) and coordinates a Marie Curie Integration Grant with Dr. Tess Knighton. Member of the 'Music, Heritage, and Society' research group (Catalonia).
