Dr. Emilie Pondeville is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Virus Research, part of the University of Glasgow. Her work focuses on mosquito biology and physiology, particularly the reproductive and immune mechanisms that influence arbovirus transmission.
Her research explores molecular interactions in mosquito-arbovirus systems, including tissue-specific antiviral strategies, defense pathway crosstalk, and vertical transmission of viruses. She utilizes modern transgenic facilities to manipulate mosquito gene functions.
Grants from the Medical Research Foundation, UK Research and Innovation, BBSRC, and European Commission support her work on mosquito-borne disease risks under climate change and control strategies.
Her publications span virology, entomology, and molecular biology, with recent articles analyzing NSm protein roles, sugar-feeding immunity, salivary vascular effects, and genetic tools in Aedes and Anopheles mosquitoes.
Her group investigates gene expression regulation, transgenic mosquito development, and vector competence to inform control programs for diseases like malaria and dengue.
