Emilie Dotte is a Senior Lecturer in Archaeology at The University of Western Australia (UWA) and an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow in the School of Humanities. She holds a dual PhD in Prehistory from the Sorbonne and the Australian National University (ANU), focusing on New Caledonia’s precolonial archaeology and archaeobotanical applications. Her research bridges archaeology, environmental science, and history, with a focus on Pacific and Indo-Pacific regions. She leads the Archaeobotany Lab @ UWA and coordinates Archaeology Honours programs.

Research Interests: Her work explores human-environment interactions, particularly through archaeobotanical methods like anthracology. She investigates the history of archaeology in the Pacific, emphasizing underrepresented contributions by women and Indigenous scholars. Key topics include prehistoric forest management, Pacific islander adaptations, and decolonizing archaeological narratives.
