Emiliano Cortes

Emiliano Cortes is a Professor in Experimental Physics and academic lead of the Nanomaterials for Energy Group at the Faculty of Physics, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), Germany. He holds visiting professorships at Imperial College London (UK) and Tianjin University (China). His research focuses on plasmonics, photonics, nanochemistry, and energy conversion, with applications in photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, and sustainability.

• Affiliations: Centre for Plasmonics and Metamaterials, German excellence cluster e-conversion, Bavarian program Solar Technologies go Hybrid.
• Leadership Roles: PI of e-conversion’s graduate program, scientific board member at Center for NanoScience (CeNS), and Chair of the 2025 Gordon Conference on Plasmonically Powered Processes.

Awards and Recognition: ERC Grants (2018 & 2023), Royal Society Emerging Investigator (2021), and inclusion in the 2022 global top-1000 cited researchers in Nanoscience.

Editorial Contributions: Member of the editorial boards of ACS Energy Letters, ACS Nano, eScience, and AP Nexus.

He co-edited the book Plasmonic Catalysis: From Fundamentals to Applications (2021) and is a Fellow of the Young Academy of Europe.
