Emil Tangham Hazelhurst is an Associate Lecturer of corpus linguistics at Lancaster University, where he is also pursuing his PhD in Linguistics. He is affiliated with the Department of Linguistics and English Language within the university.

Tangham Hazelhurst's research spans corpus linguistics, language acquisition, ecocriticism, and ecolinguistics. His work focuses on applying corpus techniques to language testing and acquisition, as well as exploring the intersection of language, landscape, and environmental concerns. He is particularly interested in how language reflects and shapes our understanding of ecological crises and deep time concepts.
His recent publications demonstrate a trajectory connecting corpus linguistics with emerging technologies and ecological concerns. His work ranges from practical applications of data-driven learning in sociolinguistics education to exploring the language of AI image generators like DALL·E, and examining spatiotemporal metaphor in the context of deep time and ecological crisis.

- Participating in an ESRC funded research project with the British Council on language testing and acquisition through corpus techniques
- Co-editing "Apocalyptic Ecolinguistics: Language, Landscape, and Ecoanxiety in the Age of Ecological Crisis" (forthcoming with Bloomsbury)
