Emi Murayama is an Instructor in the Department of East Asian Languages & Literatures at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Her research focuses on language and social interaction from a conversation analysis (CA) perspective, business discourse, and foreign language pedagogy. She holds a PhD and MA in Japanese Language from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, as well as a BA in Linguistics from the University of Oregon and a BA in Business Administration from Rikkyo University.
Her academic background bridges linguistics, business, and language education, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach to studying communication dynamics in professional and educational contexts. She contributes to Japanese language pedagogy and the analysis of discourse structures in social interactions.
