Dr. Bodde received his educational credentials from prestigious institutions, earning a B.A. (Hons) in Philosophy and History from Case Western Reserve University in 2016, followed by a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Vanderbilt University in 2023. He has been serving as a Lecturer in Philosophy at Clemson University since completing his doctorate.
Dr. Bodde's research spans several interconnected areas within political philosophy. His primary interests include the history of political philosophy, the development of socio-political concepts during the 19th and 20th centuries, and the philosophy of artificial intelligence. A significant focus of his recent work examines how social class should be conceptualized within philosophical frameworks, particularly in relation to contemporary critiques of capitalism, theories of social identity and intersectionality, and the relative lack of clarity surrounding class concepts in theories of justice, social ontology, and ethics.
His scholarly contributions have appeared in respected academic venues including Philosophy and Public Affairs, Philosophy & Social Criticism, AI & Society, Asian Philosophy, Journal of Spinoza Studies, and Critical Review: A Journal of Politics and Society. He has also contributed to the edited volume New Perspectives on the Ontology of Social Identities.
Currently, Dr. Bodde is developing research on the epistemic dimensions of democracy and authoritarianism, exploring the potential role of artificial intelligence in facilitating deliberative democratic processes, and investigating international intellectual exchanges of political-philosophical ideas during the Interwar Era that continue to influence contemporary political thought.
