Emanuele Spadaro

Emanuele Spadaro is a Full Professor in the Mathematical Department at Sapienza Università di Roma, where he leads advanced research in geometric measure theory, calculus of variations, and partial differential equations. He is the Principal Investigator of the ERC-funded project HiCoS (Higher Co-dimension Singularities), which investigates singularities in minimal surfaces and free boundary problems, particularly in higher co-dimensions.

His research focuses on deep analytical and geometric aspects of variational problems. Key areas include the structure of free boundaries, regularity of solutions, minimal surfaces, and obstacle problems—both classical and fractional. His work combines tools from geometric measure theory, nonlinear PDEs, and variational methods to understand the behavior of singularities and geometric evolution processes.

The recent publications show a consistent trend toward understanding fine structures in free boundary problems and minimal surfaces, with a strong emphasis on higher co-dimension phenomena. His collaborations with prominent mathematicians such as Camillo De Lellis, Matteo Focardi, and others reflect a high-impact research trajectory in geometric analysis.

Emanuele Spadaro has secured significant funding through the European Research Council (ERC) under Horizon 2020 (Grant agreement No. 759229). He currently supervises two PhD students: Luca Di Fazio and Paolo Di Donato, contributing to the next generation of researchers in analysis and geometry.

He teaches core mathematics courses including Analisi Matematica 1 and Equazioni alle derivate parziali. His office is located in Room 103 of the 'G. Castelnuovo' Mathematical Department, and he holds weekly office hours by appointment on Mondays from 9:00 to 11:00.
