Emanuele Gucciardi is a Senior Researcher in the field of Electrochemical Energy Storage at CIC energiGUNE in Miñano, Spain. He earned his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Messina (Italy) in 2010, followed by post-doctoral positions at the University of Milan (Italy) and ZSW-Zentrum für Sonnenenergie und Wasserstoff-Forschung (Germany).
His research focuses on Li-ion batteries, supercapacitors, and next-generation battery systems, with a particular interest in ageing mechanisms, composite electrodes, Si anodes, and recycling technologies. He leads post-mortem analysis projects to understand battery degradation and contributes to European initiatives like the Graphene Flagship Project.
His recent publications highlight advancements in silicon-graphite anodes, circular economy strategies for battery reuse, and modeling techniques for commercial lithium-ion batteries. Gucciardi collaborates with multidisciplinary teams on projects involving electrode formulation, physico-chemical parameter measurement, and device assembly.
Scientific Awards:
- 2019 – Deputy leader of the Graphene Flagship Core Project 2 (Horizon 2020 RIA – SpearHead 5)
