Emanuela Grama

Emanuela Grama is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Carnegie Mellon University, where she has been a faculty member since 2013. She specializes in the history of 20^th and 21^st century Central and Eastern Europe, with a particular focus on urban politics, state-making, property restitution, and cultural memory in Romania.

Her research combines archival and ethnographic methodologies, analyzing how political regimes use material practices to construct heritage and belonging. She has published extensively on topics including socialist urban planning, the politics of archaeology, and post-socialist property debates.
