Emanuela Colombo serves as a Full Professor at Politecnico di Milano and holds a cross-institutional appointment at Bocconi University through the formal L. Bocconi - Politecnico Milano collaboration program. She is actively engaged as a Visiting Professor at Bocconi, where she teaches Thermoeconomics and Energy Modeling for the 2025/2026 academic year, bridging engineering and economic disciplines in energy-focused research.
Her research centers on thermoeconomics—the integration of thermodynamic principles with economic analysis—to optimize energy systems and industrial processes. Key interests include sustainable energy modeling, efficiency enhancement in energy-intensive industries, and environmental impact reduction through system-level thermodynamic-economic frameworks. This work targets practical applications in industrial energy management and sustainable resource allocation.
Professor Colombo maintains her primary institutional base at Politecnico di Milano while contributing specialized expertise to Bocconi's academic programs via structured cross-university collaboration.
