Emad Hassan

Dr. Emad Hassan is an Assistant Professor at Missouri University of Science and Technology in the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering. He is also a Research Investigator at the Center for Infrastructure Engineering Studies (CIES) and the Center for Intelligent Infrastructure (CII).

Dr. Hassan’s research focuses on infrastructure resilience under natural hazards, disaster mitigation, and smart cities. His work integrates experimental testing, analytical modeling, network analysis, and machine learning to address challenges in structural performance during earthquakes, fatigue in underwater systems, and socio-technical aspects of healthcare networks under compound disasters.

Recent publications highlight advancements in fiber-reinforced polymers for underwater repairs, seismic resilience of steel and concrete structures, and community resilience frameworks that combine engineering and social systems. His work also explores healthcare network performance during concurrent natural disasters and pandemics.
