Eléonore Bertrand is a Lecturer in the Department of French and Francophone Studies at the University of Pennsylvania School of Arts & Sciences, serving as the French 0200 Coordinator. She holds a Ph.D. in French Language and Literature with a Certificate in Cultural Studies from the University of Pittsburgh, and a master’s degree in American History from Université Paris-X, Nanterre. With 18 years in the U.S., she boasts over 20 years of teaching experience across institutions including the University of Pittsburgh, La Salle University, and Alliance Française de Philadelphie/Pittsburgh, alongside roles in France.
Her research focuses on sibling relations and gender identity in 19th- and 20th-century French and Francophone literature. In pedagogy, she emphasizes innovative methods like gamification, technology integration, and classroom assessment. She has received recognition through the Lawler Fellowship for Excellence in Teaching and Research. Prior to Penn, she contributed to institutions in both the U.S. and France, blending academic rigor with practical educational innovation.
