Elzbieta Schroll serves as a Lecturer in Scene Painting & Colour Theory within the Scenography Department at Mozarteum University, Salzburg, bringing decades of practical theatre production experience to her academic role.
Her educational background includes:
- Specialised training in art furniture and interior design at a Polish art school
- Graduation in stage and costume design from Mozarteum University in 1990 under Prof. Otmar Schwarz
Her research and teaching focuses on the intersection of visual arts and performance, with expertise in theatrical painting techniques, color theory applications for stage environments, and historical costume design. This is complemented by active practice in calligraphy and life drawing that informs her pedagogical approach.
Professionally, Schroll maintained a dual career: from 1990–2024 she was the resident theatre painter in the Malersaal workshop at the Salzburg Festival, while simultaneously running an interior design consultancy specializing in color consulting for residential and commercial spaces. Since November 2024, she has transitioned fully to academia while continuing artistic practice in calligraphy and figure drawing.
