Elsa Sverrisdóttir serves as a Researcher in the Department of Chemistry and Bioscience within the Faculty of Engineering and Science at Aalborg University, Denmark. Her research primarily focuses on plant genomics with special emphasis on tetraploid potato genetics and applications.
Her research interests center around genomics techniques including tetraploid potato research, marker-assisted selection, single nucleotide polymorphism analysis, genotyping, genome-wide association studies, and genetic divergence. She applies these methodologies to agricultural challenges, particularly in potato breeding and disease resistance.
Analysis of her publication record shows a strong focus on potato genomics, with recent work examining marker types and density in tetraploid potato genomic prediction and GWAS. Her research demonstrates consistent application of genomic techniques to solve agricultural problems, particularly in developing disease-resistant potato varieties. She has also contributed to wildlife genomics through studies on European hedgehogs.
Elsa participates in multiple significant research projects including 'Rettidig omhu - skimmelresistente kartofler med sicgenetisk pyramidiserede R-gener' (2023-2027), 'Sekventering og vedligeholdelse af MASPot kartoffelpopulationen' (2023-2025), 'RESPOT: Development of disease resistant potatoes' (2020-2024), 'Radibooster' (2020-2023), and 'KRISPS: Kartofler med Resistens og Innovativ Stivelse' (2020-2023), funded by organizations such as Kartoffelafgiftsfonden and Landbrugsstyrelsen.
