Elsa Reimerson is an Associate Professor in Political Science at Umeå University, specializing in environmental politics and policy with emphasis on collaborative governance, Indigenous rights, and climate change adaptation. She serves as Assistant Head of Department and coordinates civics teacher education programs.
Her research examines governance at the intersection of environmental conservation and Indigenous rights, particularly within Sámi territories. Current projects investigate co-production of climate action pathways in forest landscapes and the inclusion of Indigenous knowledge in conservation policy. She employs discourse analysis and participatory methodologies to analyze power dynamics in environmental governance.
Reimerson teaches across political science curricula and develops pedagogical approaches integrating environmental governance concepts into teacher education. She advises graduate research on climate policy implementation and Indigenous participation frameworks.
