Els Dietvorst

Els Dietvorst is an Assistant Lecturer at the Wexford Campus of SETU Waterford. Her research focuses on the role of art in fostering social cohesion, addressing themes such as cultural diversity, migration, and the human condition within capitalist societies. She emphasizes art’s capacity to bridge social divides and promote ethical consciousness aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Her work explores the intersection of art with societal issues like alienation, anxiety, and the collective subconscious. Dietvorst advocates for art as a collaborative, holistic force transcending institutional and cultural boundaries. She actively participates in initiatives like the 2024 Engaged Research workshop, emphasizing community engagement.

Recognized for her contributions, she received the Belgian Art Prize in 2021. Her approach integrates primal intuition, experimentation, and dialogue to create art that challenges viewers to reflect on humanity’s place within nature and society.
