Ellie Atayee-Bennett is a Lecturer in Sociology at Solent University, contributing to the Social Sciences and Nursing Research Group. Her work focuses on sustainability, vegan studies, ethical consumption, and the intersection of religion/culture with everyday practices. She teaches modules such as EDS405 Researching the City and EDS504 Bodies and Identities. Ellie holds a PhD from the University of Southampton (2024) titled 'Faith Veganism: How the Ethics, Values, and Practices of UK-Based Muslim, Jewish, and Christian Vegans Reshape Veganism and Religiosity.'
Her research employs qualitative methods including interviews, ethnography, and social media-based diaries. External roles include Communications Officer for BSA Sociology of Religion (SocRel) Study Group and Co-Founder/Chair of Green Islam's Academic Committee.
