Ellen White is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Her research focuses on the environmental impacts of transportation policy and infrastructure, utilizing spatial analysis and qualitative methods.
- Education: BA from North Carolina State University, MUP from Harvard, MLA from Rutgers, and PhD in Planning and Public Policy from Rutgers
Dr. White's work examines decision-making processes in transportation planning, particularly large-scale roadside tree removal practices by state highway agencies. She brings professional experience from Arterial Streets (landscape designer) and Nelson\Nygaard Consulting (transportation planner).
Scientific Awards:
- Landscape Architecture Foundation Fellow for Innovation and Leadership (2021-22)
She advises graduate student Tess Mikel and serves as secretary of the Transportation Research Board’s Landscape and Environmental Design Committee.
