Ellen Pikitch is the Endowed Professor of Ocean Conservation Science at Stony Brook University's School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS) and Executive Director of the Institute for Ocean Conservation Science. She has dedicated her career to advancing ocean conservation through innovative scientific research and policy development.

Her research spans marine protected areas (MPAs), fisheries sustainability, shark conservation, and ecosystem-based management. Key contributions include:
