Ellen Hillbom is a Professor at the Department of Economic History, Lund University. She serves as Director of Third Cycle Studies and specializes in African Economic History and contemporary development studies of the Global South. Her work intersects historical analysis with modern policy challenges, focusing on inequality, industrialization, and sustainability.
- Research Themes: Long-term African economic development, structural transformation, colonial legacies, and green energy transitions.
- Key Collaborations: Partnering with institutions like the University of Mauritius and engaging in projects funded by the Swedish Research Council.
Hillbom’s recent publications explore income inequality in colonial Africa, sustainable industrialization in Mauritius, and the application of ESG metrics to nation-state governance. Her work contributes to SDGs related to poverty reduction, climate action, and sustainable economic growth.
