Ellen Eagen is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Cornell Law School, where she contributes to the Lawyering program. As a commercial litigator specializing in education law, she represents charter schools, independent schools, and other entities in New York and California. Her practice includes governance advisory, discipline, privacy, ethics, and employment matters for educational institutions.

Her research and practice focus on education law, commercial litigation, and governance frameworks for schools. She has defended schools in hearings before the New York City Chancellor of Education and the New York State Board of Regents, with an emphasis on pro bono work and civil rights litigation. Ms. Eagen also has extensive experience in arbitration and international courts.
She previously taught at Stanford Law School and Cornell Law School, and founded a progressive independent community charter high school in Syracuse, New York, serving as President of its Board of Trustees and Interim Head of School. Her legal work includes landmark cases like Williams v. State of California, ensuring public schools have adequate resources.
