Professor Ellen BOS is a distinguished academic at Andrássy University Budapest, where she has served since 2004. She currently holds the position of Chair of Comparative Politics with a Focus on Central and Eastern Europe in the EU and has been Vice-Rector for Research and Young Academics since March 2017. Additionally, she has directed the university's Doctoral School since 2009 and serves as the contact person for the Center for Democracy Research. Her institutional affiliations include the Danube Institute - Center of the AUB and membership in the German Political Science Association and European Integration Working Group.
Professor BOS completed her studies at Ruhr University Bochum in 1986, earned her doctorate from the same institution in 1991, and completed her habilitation at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 2000. Her academic career includes positions as a research associate at the Geschwister Scholl Institute for Political Science at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (1990-1993), research assistant and senior research assistant at the same institute (1993-2005), and visiting professorships at both the Geschwister Scholl Institute (2001-2002, 2003-2004) and the Social Science Institute of Humboldt University of Berlin (2002-2003).
