Ella Van Landeghem is a health sociologist and junior researcher at the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp (ITM), where she has been affiliated with the Sexual and Reproductive Health Group since 2019. She holds a Master's degree in Sociology and a Master's in Health Promotion from Ghent University.
Her research focuses on social inequalities in health, sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), and migration as a health determinant. She specializes in HIV prevention strategies, particularly PrEP implementation for migrant populations and sexual minorities in Belgium, employing both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
Recent publications (2023-2025) demonstrate her work in sexual health behavior analysis, HIV prevention tools development, and migrant health access barriers. Her research consistently addresses marginalized communities through mixed-method approaches.
She actively contributes to EU-funded projects including:
- CORE (Community Response to End Inequalities, 2023-2025): Addressing health disparities in communicable diseases
- PROMISE (Optimise PrEP Impact, 2019-2023): PrEP implementation for sexual minorities
- TACKLING COVID (2022-2024): Vaccine hesitancy in underserved populations
She collaborates with international research networks across Europe and works within ITM's Sexual Health research team.
