Ella Diaz

Ella Diaz is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies at the College of Social Sciences, San Jose State University. She specializes in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of digital humanities, Chicana/o art history, and archival theory.

Research Interests:

• Digitization and preservation of Chicano artists' works
• Archival theory (Foucault, Derrida) applied to marginalized communities
• Contemporary Chicana interventions in art and cultural studies
• Testimonio as a narrative genre in the Americas

Her current projects include a post-script to the 2020 A Ver volume on José Montoya, analyzing digital humanities' impact on Chicana/o artistic canons, and cultural analyses of testimonio in Latinx art exhibitions.
