Elke Nagel

Professor Elke Nagel serves as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg (OTH Regensburg) and holds multiple leadership positions including Scientific Director of the Friedrich Mielke Institute for Scalalogy and Chair of the Examination Committee for the Historical Building Research program. She also acts as Deputy Women's Representative for the Faculty of Architecture.

Her research focuses on architectural and building history with specialized expertise in scalalogy - the interdisciplinary study of stairs as cultural artifacts. Professor Nagel's work bridges technical documentation, historical analysis, and cultural significance of architectural elements, particularly within the context of historical building research and preservation.

As Scientific Director of the Friedrich Mielke Institute for Scalalogy, she continues the legacy of Professor Friedrich Mielke (1921-2018) in systematically documenting, classifying, and analyzing staircases across historical periods, geographical regions, and functional contexts. Her work contributes significantly to the Sustainable Building and Historical Building Research cluster at OTH Regensburg.
