Elizabeth Yeater is a Professor at the University of New Mexico and serves as the Director of Clinical Training (DCT). Her research program investigates cognitive and behavioral factors influencing women's risk for sexual victimization, employing Social Information Processing models and methods from cognitive science. Key research areas include sexual victimization/revictimization, alcohol's impact on risk detection, and Ecological Momentary Assessment/Intervention techniques.
Her recent publications (2015-2018) demonstrate consistent focus on sexual violence prevention, alcohol-related risk behaviors, trauma responses, and intervention effectiveness. Research spans clinical psychology, public health, and social cognition, frequently addressing ethnic and gender-specific factors in risk assessment.
Dr. Yeater leads a research team including Meredith Blackwell, Ryan Ross, Gabriela Lopez, and Kristen Vitek. She teaches courses such as Abnormal Behavior (PSY 332) and Introduction to Clinical Science (PSY 538), and supervises graduate research in psychological trauma.
