Elizabeth Watkin

Professor Elizabeth Watkin is a distinguished academic and Associate Dean (Science and Mathematics) at Edith Cowan University's School of Science. She holds a PhD in Microbiology from Murdoch University (1999) and has over 20 years of expertise in microbial ecology, particularly in mining biotechnology, bioleaching processes, and microbial fouling mitigation. Her research focuses on extremophiles like Acidihalobacter species, which are critical for recovering rare earth elements and mineral resources from challenging environments.
