Elizabeth Stewart is an Associate Professor of English at Yeshiva University, specializing in Modernism, Critical Theory, Psychoanalysis, and Literature and Law. She holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from New York University.
Research Interests: Her work explores intersections of literature with political philosophy, biopolitics, and psychoanalysis, alongside analyzing trauma, diaspora narratives, and postcolonial literature. She also investigates literature’s relationship to the visual arts, film, and philosophy.
Publications: Stewart authored Catastrophe and Survival: Walter Benjamin and Psychoanalysis (2009) and co-edited Lacan in the German-Speaking World (2004). Her recent invited articles address biopolitics, film adaptations, and feminist cultural studies.
Awards: Recipient of a 2008 NEA Translation Grant.
