Elizabeth Smith is Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Paul M. Dauten, Jr. Professor of Biological Sciences at Dartmouth College. She researches ciliary assembly and motility mechanisms.
Education: PhD from Emory University; BA from Agnes Scott College
Research examines molecular mechanisms of cilia/flagella formation and function using Chlamydomonas model system. Her lab investigates microtubule severing proteins, calcium signaling pathways, and intraflagellar transport.
Honors include Dauten Professorship and Porter Fellowship. Smith bridges science-art connections through museum collaborations.
