Professor Elizabeth Miller, Chair of the Communication Studies Department at Concordia University, is a pioneering scholar in environmental media, participatory documentary, and immersive storytelling. Her work bridges climate justice, feminist theory, and community-based research through innovative projects like SwampScapes (Tacoma International Festival winner) and The Shore Line (Yorkton Film Festival finalist).
- Education: MFA in Electronic Arts, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; BA in Social Thought & Political Economy, University of Massachusetts.
Research spans virtual reality for climate advocacy, locative media for waste education, and participatory methods with marginalized communities. Her 2023 My Two Families explores refugee youth identity, while 2022’s WasteScapes reimagines urban waste systems. Earlier work like 2002’s Novela, Novela (multiple awards) highlights feminist media in Latin America.
