Dr. Elizabeth McKenney is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), part of the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior. She directs the Clinical Child and School Psychology graduate program and leads the Attention and Behavior Clinic. Additionally, she serves as clinical supervisor and site leader for the SIUE/Metro East Schools doctoral internship within the Illinois School Psychology Internship Consortium (ISPIC).
She earned her Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Florida in 2010.
Her research examines:
- School-based interventions for autistic students
- Social justice frameworks in educational psychology
- Systemic consultation models for teachers
- Advocacy in special education
Recent publications (2015-2021) demonstrate strong focus on autism spectrum disorder (particularly school consultation methods and intervention integrity), cultural responsiveness in psychology, and social justice advocacy. Research methodologies include case studies, metasyntheses, and empirical evaluations across diverse educational settings.
Dr. McKenney actively mentors students in autism services and consultation research while overseeing clinical training through the Attention and Behavior Clinic.
