Elizabeth Hewitt is a Professor and Chair in the Department of English at The Ohio State University. A scholar of pre-1900 American and African American literature, she holds a PhD in English from Johns Hopkins University (1995), an MA from Johns Hopkins (1991), and a BA from Amherst College (1988). Her research explores intersections between literature, economics, and speculative fiction.

Hewitt’s work spans economic debates in early American literature, epistolary writing, and the evolution of science fiction.
